Security Awareness Blog

Updates to OUCH! and STH

I just wanted to share with you some updates from the Securing The Human team. First is OUCH!. As most of you saw we released the March edition last week, the topic was Dos and Don'ts of Email. One of the most common requests for OUCH! has been for us to release OUCH! earlier in the month. As such we have moved the release date from around the 15th to the 5th of every month. Also we are expanding our topics, covering what we feel are the most relevant topics that are often overlooked. For example, in April we will be covering Metadata and in May we will be covering Disposing Mobile Devices.

Also, we just released our new security awareness training for 2012.1. At STH we know that technology and bad guys are both constantly changing, that is why we review and update our entire training library twice a year. For this update we changed over 30% of our content. In addition we now have low-bandwidth versions of our training videos for modules and in 21 languages. Finally we moved our online training to the Amazon cloud. This means not only are the videos streamed (as opposed to progressive downloading) but the videos are fed from 24 servers geographically spread around the world.

As always, I'm very excited to be part of such a dynamic and growing team, expect many more updates and free resources in the coming months. As always, if you have any suggestions please let me know at lspitzner@sans.org.
